Kristina and Tony grew up the complete opposite. Her on the North Dakota prairies and him at the beach in Southern California. They both relocated to Seattle, for work, where they met. On their first date he played Johnny Cash and told her about his dog, Rico and she told him about her first dog, Tuffy. That’s all it took. Both of them have had a love for animals as far back as they can remember. His favorite being cats and hers horses. Although any animal spoke to them. After being in Seattle for 14 years they moved to the country. Soon after they started rescuing animals. The first thing they did after buying their fixer upper was rebuild their barn and painted it blue. Next came the tractor. Followed by their first pig Kevin, which started their passion for pigs. Soon after they learned about the thousands of pigs in need of a safe place to call home. After rescuing more pigs, cats, goats, chickens, ducks, guineas and a peahen they realized they need to do something to continue rescuing. Naturally that meant starting their own Sanctuary where all the animals can live their best lives for the rest of their days. And that’s how Little Blue Barn Sanctuary started. From Tuffy, Rico, Kevin & Johnny Cash.
“Until one has loved an animal, a part of one's soul remains unawakened.” –Anatole France.
